You can securely clamp the Pencil Grinder to a Surface up to one-inch thick for convenient sharpening. The bottom cup catches the dust as you sharpen, so it doesn't damage your artwork. The compact Raffine Pencil & Charcoal Grinder is 1-3/4" x 3-11/16" x 1-1/2" with a 1" x 2-1/4" sanding plate. The clamp opens three inches wide, which Allows attachment to slightly deeper boards or Surfaces. However, we recommend 1" or less for the most secure hold.
